The staff at Dental Corner understands accidents happen and are available seven days a week for emergency dental work. You can turn to us when you need immediate treatment for a dental emergency. Despite preventive dental check-ups and cleanings, dental emergencies can occur. We have listed the most common emergency problems and what you can do until you can get to our office. A good rule of thumb: if it hurts, do NOT wait to make an appointment as this may lead to increased pain, infection and may result in more complex, costly and time-consuming treatment. No matter what the emergency, we will take the time to fully answer all your questions and explain all your treatment options and their treatment time and cost

A toothache or sensitive tooth can be a sign of a dying nerve inside the tooth or simply tooth wear or fracture, a bite problem, area of decay or leaking filling. Slight pain, if left untreated, can progress into facial or oral swelling and severe pain.

Teeth with large fillings can easily break or fracture. If the broken tooth is not treated, more serious problems can develop. Broken teeth may or may not be sensitive to air and temperature changes. Sensitivity and pain are not necessarily an indication of how badly the tooth is damaged.

Place the tooth preferably in milk. Do not try to scrub or wash the tooth, and see us immediately. The faster the tooth can be re-implanted, the better the odds that the tooth can be saved. Time is crucial.

Try dental floss to gently remove the object. Do not use sharp or pointed objects to push or pry the object from between your teeth. If the object remains, call our office for removal.

See us as soon as possible to have the crown evaluated for recommendation. If this is not possible, you can use a denture adhesive (Fixodent®, for example) that can be purchased without a prescription. Place a small amount in the crown and reseat it. Do not try to force it into place. It should not be difficult to put into place. When you cannot put the crown in correctly, save it, and bring it with you to your appointment.

Bring the partial or full denture to us for evaluation and repair. Do not try to glue the plastic yourself with Crazy Glue® or other similar materials as this can make your denture un-repairable.

Facial swelling or bleeding or swollen gums are a sign of infection of a tooth or gums. In many cases, there may be no pain to warn you of the seriousness of the infection. Call us immediately so that appropriate treatment and antibiotics may be prescribed.
